Netflix recently released a new series called “13 Reasons Why.” This series has become very popular. It is a story about a 17-year-old girl’s death by suicide. It shows graphic scenes of bullying, violence, drug and alcohol use, sexual assault and suicide. It glamorizes suicide and shows helping professionals in a negative light.
Mental health experts are concerned about the potential impact this show might have on vulnerable children and youth. Schools across Canada and United States have been responding to these concerns by sending information and resources to parents.
